Junior Achievement Leadership Council
Mission Statement
The purpose of the Junior Achievement Leadership Council is to reach out to the
young professional community to increase volunteers, funding and awareness in
order to support the mission of Junior Achievement—to inspire and prepare young
people to succeed in a global economy.
The JALC was formed in 2005 by young professionals in the Birmingham area who
were dedicated to expanding the mission of JA. Membership limit
the first year was set at ten, but grew to 15 in the second year. Since the
first event in 2006, the group has raised nearly $10,000 for JA programs and
services, which supports almost 350 kids in JA programs. The JALC has also done
an amazing job with raising the public profile of the organizations
through events collaborating with the Birmingham Young Professionals and the
YWCA. In 2007-08 our goal is to continue on this path and grow our membership to
support the growth of existing events as well as create new and innovative
efforts to reach an increasingly competitive local volunteer market.
