Empower Alabama
Mission Statement
Empower Alabama is a social movement committed to changing the status quo and
moving Alabama forward.
The movement was created as a pragmatic response to three critical needs in
Alabama:
- The need to engage new voters, activists, and leaders
- The need to educate our citizens at the grassroots
- The need to elect a new generation of public servants ready to enact a
progressive agenda for our state
There is no large-scale, ongoing effort, either from our two major political
parties or our non-profit and advocacy community, in the area of grassroots
political organizing. Empower Alabama intends to fill that void year in, year
out, year round and to build the grassroots army necessary for our state to make
progressive changes which are decades overdue.
We will partner with other organizations and everyday folks to enact a
progressive agenda for our state. Rather than existing to promote a single issue
or cause, Empower Alabama believes that we suffer from a range of shortcomings
and challenges and that we therefore must support a broad range of policy
prescriptions. We look forward to working with you to engage, educate, and
